Introducing the Newton Windows Beta
In November 2013, we launched the iOS and Android apps. Our users loved the emailing experience on mobile and bringing the same to the desktop is the next part of our plan. We launched the Mac app 16 months ago, and it was an instant hit among critics and users. Since then, requests for Windows app poured in. After adding Superchargers last September, we started our work on Windows app in December. Today we’re happy to announce the Newton Windows Beta.
What to expect
The first version of the Windows beta does the core emailing for you. You can use it to read, organize and send emails. There’ll be no Superchargers and a few other things are also missing. You’ll have to refresh to get new emails. The next version will have push notifications, ETA — 1 week.
With the subsequent versions, we’ll be adding the missing features including Read Receipts, Snooze, Send Later and more.
Edit: We just added push notifications with our latest update. Get it here!
As for the design, it’ll be similar to our Mac App; simple, clean and beautiful. The highlights:
- Clean and focused Inbox to quickly show you what matters the most
- Distraction-free Conversation View that makes reading stress-free
- Blissful Compose mode, where nothing comes between you and what you write

Eligibility
At this point of time, the Windows beta is available to Newton subscribers only. Giving an early beta access is our way of thanking you for standing with us through thick and thin. Also, restricting it to a closed audience will help us streamline the feedback better.
Those who have the one-year free subscription can also use the Windows beta. Just log in using your Newton account, and you’re good to go.
You need to have the Windows 10 Anniversary Update or a later version to use the beta.
Disclaimer
Before using the beta version, be aware that you are volunteering to be a part of the Newton for Windows Beta testing group. The app will contain bugs, may crash a few times, the UI will have rough edges and more. You will be getting constant updates fixing these problems but having more eyes and hands on it will help us improve the product and launch the final version soon. So please do report bugs, problems, suggestions, questions, concerns and feedback to hello@newtonhq.com. We’re listening 24/7.
Follow Paper Planes for regular updates on the Windows app.
